As an ambassador for Team Squamish Cycling and its sponsors, your conduct both on and off the bike will be scrutinized.
The TSC Team Code of Conduct for Athletes is as follows:
Being Humble – not bragging or show-boating; conducting yourself as a member of a classy team
Being Encouraging – not putting down other riders or taking away from their success; always sending positive vibes to other members of the biking community
Being Helpful – not laughing at unfortunate situations, but making yourself useful and stepping up to support when necessary
Being Respectful – thanking the race officials, coaches and volunteers, other athletes, parents and fans, and our sponsors
Being Committed – putting full efforts into meeting your goals, training and racing.
Team Squamish Cycling riders must commit to attending team functions and activities, which may include team training rides, mentoring, fundraising, trail maintenance, skills sessions, gym sessions, spin class, yoga, workshops, bike maintenance clinics, travel, races, coaching clinics, sponsorship recognition, trail days, etc. Being an excellent ambassador for the sport of cycling and for Team Squamish Cycling will serve you well in the event that you one day apply for a higher level of sponsorship and competition.
As a Team Squamish Cycling Association member, you are obligated to advertise for all of our sponsors. Their sponsorship heavily subsidizes the club and coaching for TSC. When tagging TSC in your social media, remember to mention your team sponsors. Additionally, TSC athletes are required to wear the Team Squamish Cycling uniform/kit during competitions and on the podium, for practice/training rides, at SORCA events (as an athlete or volunteer), when fundraising/ mentoring/ coaching for TSC, and when you travel for and with the team. An exception to this rule, is if a TSC athlete is competing at the Team BC or Team Canada /UCI levels.
Team Squamish Cycling Coaches may recommend any team member in good standing to the Cycling BC Coaches, camps, clinics, and other high performance opportunities.
The behaviour and success of TSC’s team members is its most powerful marketing tool. It is the expectation that all team members will refrain from using drugs, alcohol, profanity and from demonstrating poor sportsmanship on and off the bike, and that members will otherwise conduct themselves in an exemplary fashion at all times and participate in sport with integrity, always striving to compete only by legitimate means.
